Physiotherapy Treatment in Bracknell
Elgar Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists are medically trained healthcare professionals regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This means physiotherapy treatment is based on scientific research, clinical evidence and professional training, not guesswork.
At Elgar Physiotherapy, every treatment plan is based on understanding the root cause of pain, injury or restricted movement, rather than simply treating symptoms.
What Does a Physiotherapist Do?
Physiotherapy focuses on helping people reduce pain, recover from injury and move more effectively.
Physiotherapists can specialise in many areas, including:
-
Musculoskeletal injuries (muscles, joints and ligaments)
-
Back and neck pain
-
Sports injuries
-
Post-surgery rehabilitation
-
Neurological conditions
-
Respiratory physiotherapy
-
Injury prevention and movement optimisation
Every physiotherapist develops their own clinical approach and areas of expertise over time.
Movement Is the Key to Recovery
Over the years, my approach to physiotherapy has evolved significantly. One thing has become very clear: improving movement patterns often produces the best long-term results.
When pain or injury occurs, the nervous system changes the way your body moves. Muscles may tighten, switch off, or compensate incorrectly. This often leads to ongoing discomfort or recurring injuries.
Through guided physiotherapy treatment and movement strategies, I help retrain the body to move naturally again. Once movement improves, pain often reduces and the risk of future injury decreases.
Physiotherapy for Back, Neck and Joint Pain
A common myth is that physiotherapists mainly treat sports injuries such as knee or ankle problems. In reality, physiotherapy is extremely effective for many everyday conditions, including:
-
Back pain
-
Neck pain
-
Shoulder pain
-
Postural problems
-
Muscle tightness and stiffness
-
Repetitive strain injuries
Many people assume that treatments involving joint manipulation or “back cracking” will instantly fix the problem. In reality, long-term recovery usually requires a combination of treatment techniques and improved movement patterns.
Matt’s Most Popular Physiotherapy Treatment
One of the treatments clients return for again and again combines several effective techniques:
-
Sports-style deep tissue massage
-
Fascia and myofascial release techniques
-
Targeted therapeutic massage for the neck, shoulders and back
-
Simple movement strategies and exercises to restore normal movement
This combination helps reduce muscle tension, improve mobility and guide the body back towards natural movement patterns.
The goal is not just short-term relief, but long-term improvement in how your body moves and functions.

Physiotherapy Instrument Mobilisation
Physiotherapy Instrument Mobilisation – a revolutionary method pioneered by Tim Mann, an Australian Physiotherapist. The instrument is rather like a Chiropractor’s Activator, but used in a different way. It works by mobilising joints to loosen them and related muscle groups. It is so fast that the body will allow it to work where other techniques may fail.
Very safe and effective.
Best for sciatica and leg issues.

RockTape, RockPods & RockBlades
RockTape (Kinesiology Taping)
I specialise in the application of RockTape kinesiology tape to help reduce pain and improve movement. Unlike traditional sports taping that restricts movement, RockTape works by supporting natural movement patterns.
The tape is applied to the skin and usually stays in place for around 4–5 days, helping to reduce muscle tightness, support injured areas and improve circulation.
It’s widely used by elite athletes, but it’s just as effective for everyday injuries, muscle pain and posture-related problems.
RockPods (Myofascial Cupping)
RockPods are a modern, non-invasive version of traditional cupping therapy. The pods gently lift the connective tissue (fascia), helping to:
-
Improve blood flow
-
Reduce muscle tension
-
Encourage lymphatic drainage
-
Improve mobility
This technique is often used to treat tight muscles, back pain and movement restriction.
RockBlades (Instrument Assisted Therapy)
RockBlades are specialised stainless steel tools used in physiotherapy to help release tight fascia and soft tissue restrictions.
This treatment can:
-
Reduce muscle pain
-
Improve movement patterns
-
Activate muscles more effectively
-
Support injury recovery
I regularly combine RockBlades therapy with massage and physiotherapy treatment to achieve the best results.
If you're unsure whether RockTape, RockPods or RockBlades would help your condition, feel free to get in touch.
